Life Enrichment Centre is committed to protecting the privacy of our clients. As a client of the Centre your privacy is protected under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the policies of the Centre. This means that all information supplied by you to the Centre will be treated as confidential and can only be released in the following situations: It is subpoenaed by a court or It is considered by the therapist that failure to disclose the information would breech duty of care and place you or another person at risk of harm You provided written consent for the release of specific information in order to: a) Provide a written report to another professional or agency e.g. Health professional , lawyer b) Discuss the material with another person e.g. a parent , employer, case worker. Your Personal Information In order to provide effective counselling services, we need to collect some personal information. This usually include s your name, address and contact details, date of birth, marital status, number of children you have, as well as details of issues you would like to discuss with a counsellor . Clients’ files are kept in a secure location. In order to maintain a service with a commitment to best practice standards and requirements with the counsellors accrediting body, aspects of your sessions may occasionally be discussed during regular professional supervision . The purpose of the supervisions is to enhance the quality of care you receive. How we use your personal information Information is documented regarding what happens during sessions. This enables the counsellor to ensure the provision of a focused and purposeful session. Information is only considered to be personal information if the identity of the individual is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained from the information. Your personal information may be used in order to compile statistics such as the number of clients we see on a monthly basis, the number of males/females, the ages of clients counselled etc. This information may be used to administer, manage or further develop our services.
